Protect My Heart by Christie Gordon, Christie Gordon

What can I say. I love this series. I like how all the members of Knot Me are so different, and yet, they complement each other so well. How little by little they achieve their goals, supporting each other unconditionally. How they form a big and incredible family between themselves and their partners.

In this case, we finally have Gabe's story. He is not only the band's drummer, but he is a dedicated law student. He loves his career, but his father's constant pressure to be perfect not only makes him want to work for another firm when he graduates but keeps him away from his family, visiting them only when necessary to hide his sexuality and that of his bandmates, because he believes that his father wouldn't approve it. After all, that doesn't fit the perfect image that his father demands of him.

Jeremy works for Gabe's dad as a paralegal, but also trained as a bodyguard, and is hoping to pay off some debts so he also can enter law school. When the mob threatens Gabe's father's law firm, he sends Jeremy to protect Gabe. When he meets Gabe, he realizes that that "admiration" that he sometimes felt when he looked at other guys, and to which he did not give importance or quickly put it aside, was much more than admiration. This time, he can't deny it.

Gabe wants nothing to do with having a bodyguard. He feels that Jeremy is going to expose his secret to his father and that is something he must avoid. But he can't help the intense attraction he feels toward Jeremy, and when he realizes that attraction is mutual... Well, let's just say he's more than happy that Jeremy is with him all the time everywhere.

There are some tense moments regarding the threats and an attempted blackmail that adds to them, but despite that difficult situation it was what ultimately helped Gabe to confront his father and resolve the conflict between the two of them.

It's a nice story, with several hot and romantic moments, where Jeremy and his acceptance of his sexuality just flows, which is somehow refreshing. And as always the fun banter among the group of friends.

I was given an advanced copy and wrote volutarily a review.
