I love Marissa Meyer's writing for The Lunar Chronicles and Renegades did not disappoint. Absolutely loved the storyline and characters.

Me loving the Marvel universe, I can't help comparing Renegades to the x-men. The concepts, the powers, the helmet!!! Some one just scream Xavier's and Magneto's philosophy! But with Marissa's own unique twist thrown in on how normal people become too dependent on our heroes and how that dependency is crippling society.

I love the diversity between the heroes and how someone disabled can still be a hero. With this, someone finally let a hero wear glasses! GLASSES! The break in gender roles has me clapping and my favorite part of this whole book is how one doesn't need to have a cool and flashy power to be a brave and heroic.

And of course, the classic, how our bad guys aren't really that bad. There were a lot of characters that it did feel overwhelming at first but in the end I was able to identify each of them easily. The dynamic between the characters is well done and I enjoyed the chemistry between everyone.

The ending was surprising - without saying too much (and likely not making much sense if you didn't read it) but I knew it wasn't that simple but I did not expect her to know. Loved it.

In summary, I should have read this sooner. Awesome writing and story telling.
