One Day by David Nicholls

Awfully boring.
I'll be honest; years ago I watched the movie and I can't really remember how I felt about it other than that it didn't affect me much.
I heard about the tv show and wanted to read the book before I'd get to the show. I sincerely hope the show is better but I'm kind of debating if I should even give it a go after reading the book. Or (again, being honest) the part I read of it because no, I did not finish. Couldn't bring myself to continue.

I can't stand either Dex or Emma. Emma just pines after a guy she hooked up with years ago... it doesn't give me 'hopeless romantic' but does come across as desperate. Dex feels entirely too entitled. Rich, can do whatever. Not relatable to me in any way.

In theory seeing a day in the lives of two characters for years seems whimsical. It actually takes away from the story for me personally. I can't bond with the characters properly. Can't be bothered to remember stuff about them from flashes in time. It doesn't work for me.

Waste of time.
