Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray

This is book #2 in the Diviners series. I didn't think I liked paranormal fiction, but maybe I should reconsider because I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. It's set in 1920s New York and stars a group of young people with supernatural powers. In this novel, there's a "sleeping sickness" that causes monsters to attack people in their sleep. The characters have to stop partying long enough to defeat the monsters.

I liked the second book less than the first. Probably because I'm not a huge fan of dream sequences in books. There are a lot of them in the second book. I still had fun reading it. The setting and time period are well-researched. The characters are quirky and loveable. Even though the book is nearly 600 pages, it's very quick to read. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
