Out There: Into the Queer New Yonder by Saundra Mitchell

4.0

Out There is a collection of short story from LGBTQIA+ authors who wrote about queer teens slaying it in the future.

Overall, this book has 17 short stories and of course, I have my favorites such as:

Reshadow by @theadamsass where an escape room obsessed MC finally had closure with his past as he tested his escape room game years into the future.

The Department of Homegoing Affairs by @kalynnbayron where the MC did her best to help the wandering ghost of her grandma make it to the afterlife after being stuck in the in-between

Present Tense by @jimmccar where an unexplainable phenomenon left all the queer people in the world after the straight people suddenly vanished.

Concerto by @abdaddy where two queer teens from different class decided to brave the multiverse even if they were separated by the past and the future.

This was such an amazing read because each anthology is packed with unique queer experiences - pain, joy, exploration, questioning - but each story ended with a promise a colorful future for the characters and the world.
