Choices have consequences or rewards and in this novel Lauren will pay for her choices. Her husband is a small town doctor who's partner has commited criminal acts agianst the practice. Lauren is aware that an audit from the government is coming and that is why her husband is unhinged. This is not the only thing that unhinges him and in the course of a short afternoon, her world of private secrets are exposed for all to see. Her husband discovers she is having an affair while looking for boxes of evidence planted by his partner to put him in jail while he sails to Cancun. He takes her hostage and she is living a nightmare and when he demands to speak to Danny she thinks she has the identity of her lover. No he is still clueless but thinks Danny will understand him, even when Danny tells him he knows about the caner. This is when Lauren realizes she will not leave alive nor will the children be spared. The reasons this book will not get a 5 from me, is she had a chance to lock him in a safe room and escaped only she didnt, well that was only 1/2 way into the book and when the son comes back to the house.
