When Sadness Is at Your Door by Eva Eland

If I rated children’s books, I would give this a 5 star. Every parent needs to read this to their child, every teacher needs to have this in their classroom. We need to raise secure children who are emotionally intelligent, unhealthy coping strategies start early and this comes from a lack of understanding of emotions. This book teaches children that sadness is a visitor, not their identity, not part of themselves. Sadness will come and wants to know that it is allowed to be there. Emotions pass when processed, to process is to not resist, avoid or stiff down with food and tv. I think this book does an excellent job at explaining what sadness is and how to handle it when it arises. Adults need this just as much as children.
