The Vegetarian by Han Kang
4.0
The plot and characters can feel outlandish, unrealistic even, but there’s something unsettling about Han Kang’s The Vegetarian. Kang makes a thematic choice to utilize three different POVs—the first two male, to boot—to characterize Yeong-hye (the vegetarian of the title). And while the motifs and overarching message might feel too on the nose for some readers, there’s little details that remain mysterious, pulling you into this tragic tale.
