The Unspoken Name by A.K. Larkwood

3.0

The thing I liked the most was the setting. It’s a HUGE world, and a decent amount of the story was devoted to world-building. The setting is so vast, and it was really cool to have so many different places, species, types of magic, ways of traveling, you name it-it’s varied and all connected. The idea behind it all was great. The author has such an imagination!

What wasn’t as impressive was the character interactions. The grooming throughout the story made me feel… not good. Which is bizarre because I’ve read and loved some very emotional manipulation-heavy books! I think I’ve learned that I like characters who grow through self-reflection on their interactions with others, not because someone told them to.
