I absolutely adored this book!

Kallia is my favorite kind of protagonist: fierce and spunky with a heart of gold. She is so ambitious and focused. She deserves the world and she knows it, so much so that she will do whatever it takes and sacrifice anything to achieve her dreams. She is not one to let others distract her from her goals or tear her down.❤️

Aaros is wonderful, even though he didn’t get half as much page time as he deserved. If you’re a fan of Sam Lloyd from the Diviners, you’ll connect with Aaros right away. To convince you: Aaros and Kallia meet when Aaros attempts to pickpocket Kallia, but she catches him in the act. I love witty thieves. What can I say?

I wasn’t completely certain about Demarco at first. He seemed flat and broody, which I am not into. At all. However, as we learn more about him and he opens up to Kallia, we see other sides of his character that make him much more bearable. I could ship this.

The plot and concept are super fun but with high stakes and tension, which is exactly what I like. The magic is very interesting and I look forward to learning more about it in the sequel.

Also, that cliffhanger! So worth it, though. This book was *chef’s kiss* magnifique.
