The writing was dense beyond belief, and felt to detract from the substance of the book. It was very poetic, but repetitive and overly confusing in places - at times I had no idea what was going on. Some passages really grabbed me and those were the ones with clarity.
Another thing that lessened my interest in this book was that it was all for a man. And a married man at that. I strongly believe that Barker cannot be worth this level of poetic gushing and anguish.
