Washington Square by Henry James, Michael Cunningham

i really like how small and careful this feels, even in its great moments of emotion and conclusion. i want to say it’s like a filigree locket of a book — intricate, personal, easy to miss but lovely when you see it, opens up into further insight but not necessarily the whole picture — but all the google images that come up for that are much uglier than what a filigree locket looks like in my head, so now i’m not so sure.
