Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
Two of my least favorite genres are memoir and religious meditations. After 100 pages, it became clear that this book, although ostensibly a novel about a Stanford grad student studying the science of addiction--what's not to like?--is in form indistinguishable from a memoir about a child's religious upbringing. There's other stuff too, I guess, but not enough to outweigh my aggressive boredom.
