It ‘aged’ well (not that it’s old). I was again struck by how great the writing is and it his SO MANY tropes—

J/P hero.
Military-style action.
New Adult (she’s 20).
Age gap (by about 25 years).
Bodyguard romance.
Forbidden vibes (he’s her dad’s best friend).
V!rg!n heroine.
Espionage.
College campus setting.
Bada$$ female lead who can defend herself.
Circle of friends / ride-or-die besties.
Danger.
Abduction.
Attempted SA.
Fake relationship.
Praise.
Betrayal.

The entire cast is brilliant and witty so it manages to be hilarious throughout, despite the high tensions and danger.

It also sets up the other future couples’ books for this series. I can’t recommend this entire series enough!

*****

I really liked this book, it was a super fun read that I had trouble putting down.
It jumps right into the action and it’s real - Daniels isn’t afraid to get just a little bit dark in the process. Reader is then shown the main characters’ lives and gets to know them; this is kept short enough but doesn’t leave anything to question, all the while dropping hints at what’s to come.

As the action unfolds, so does the romance and it’s all laid out brilliantly.
There’s real feels, heat, action, humor, wit, and just enough insight into other characters and potentially budding loves or crushes to leave us on the hook. Eagerly waiting for more in this series.

Professionally produced with no glaring or distracting editing, spelling, continuity, etc. issues.
I can find no reason to deduct any stars from this review.
