We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
5.0
“Every parent’s latent fear is that it was possible to do absolutely everything right and still turn on the news to a nightmare from which there is no waking.”
A brilliant page-turner. All the fear of parenthood in the world has been condensed into this well-crafted novel. It isn’t just the fear of raising a monster. It’s the fear of being ignored and unheard. Like in that common nightmare we’ve all had where you try and scream but no sound comes out.
If the purpose of literature as an art form is to cause an emotional reaction, this one delivers.
A must-read that definitely goes into my favorites shelf.
