Summary: the final chapter of the Magician’s tales. Quinten Coldwater in this one is gripping with his place in the world, what life means, and the end of his world.
My thoughts: something that I will give credit to, is it doesn’t make magic sound like something that just comes easily to people and that it takes tons of work to hone the craft together. I just think that’s a really nice touch. However, I am convinced that Lev Grossman doesn’t like his own characters. The books are character focused with some poorly planned out plot sprinkled in. And the character focus seems to be solely on the issues of the characters, and not ones that they seem to want to change, and that really bothers me. I wish they spent time looking into some plot lines more than others. I was just anticipating more out of this series. I’m glad I read it so I could check it off the TBR, but I’m not in the least bit satisfied with it. The characters can be loveable and drive you insane and the plot isn’t much better. I just was hoping for more in general.
