Ella is raising her younger sister alone and needs a better job because her sister got accepted in a private school. She applies to work at Lane’s company and is hired to be Bennett’s assistant. Coincidentally, Bennett is currently raising his 4 nieces and nephews for his brother who has disappeared. Ella is immediately attracted to Bennett and he feels the same way except he cannot let anything get in the way of him being appointed the new CEO. At first the job seems to be his until a clause is discovered and he must marry Ella.
I really liked these two characters together they were both great pseudo parents, kind , caring and involved. Bennett and Ella both had a lot of trauma in their lives as children and this similarity really united them. This book has a mystery, some suspense and some darkness. I truly enjoyed this story. I always love marriage of convenience stories, because one person always falls first and then there is some angsty. This fast moving book kept me engaged and is the first book in the new Lane Family series. The next book is about Elliot the oldest nephew that Bennett raised.
