Things I loved:
  • that this was set in the world of Australian Rules football
  • the Australian ~vibe~ in terms of language, and how the characters interacted; a lot about it felt familiar, which doesn't happen often
  • the originality - it's not quite a romance, and while I usually love the comfort of knowing there will be a HEA, I didn't miss that here (in saying that, this won't be for everyone, and that's OK)
  • these are flawed, imperfect people, and they do flawed, imperfect things
  • THE ANGST.

Things I didn't love:
  • the MC ordering a schooner in a pub in Victoria (it's strictly pots or pints in Vic!).
