The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
3.0
The writing was brilliant and the whole plotline very intriguing, keeping you guessing what is going on throughout the majority of the book. However, I did find it rather slow with regards to pacing and the whole fact that Anna Fox is a very unreliable narrator (with her alcoholism, mental health issues, and drug use among other spoiler-ish reasons) and it really threw me and I didn’t connect with the characters.
I have to say I think I enjoyed the film more and while it does stick to the original storyline 95%, there was just something more suspenseful about the film.
I would definitely suggest reading the book before watching the film as the whole element of surprise is lost once you’ve seen the film and know what happens but the book does describe things better and gives a harsh look at Anna’s situation and life in a way that isn’t really felt in the film.
CONTENT WARNING: Violence, Blood, Vomit, Drug Use, Drug Abuse, Alcohol Use, Alcoholism, Mental Illness, Suicide Attempt, Agoraphobia, Cursing, Grief, Death, Death of a Child, Murder, Gaslighting, Confinement, Medical Content
