Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score
5.0
It took me a minute to finish this book due to my schedule recently however I am glad that I got to savor the final book in the Knockemount series because it's so bittersweet to watch the last couple of one of my favorite series finish their story.
I, like everyone else, was excited to finally dive into Sloane and Lucian's story to see why their hate for each other ran so deeply and so openly in front of their friends. I think the tension was done SO well in this book as well. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book wanting to find out everything and see what came next in their relationship. Sloane was such a fun fmc to read about. Her inner thoughts were both relatable and funny. And I loved that she made Lucian work for his groveling like she was a strong lead that I had been rooting for since the earlier books about her friends. Lucian was hot and broody as hell which I am always going to enjoy reading. Knowing his background made many plot points more understandable and I am just so glad he had Sloane in his corner even when he tried to push her away. Obviously, my heart hurt real bad with the push and pull that went on but I understand where it all came from and it ended in a beautiful couple that I could never regret reading through that heartache.
The smut in this I thought was done well. There def were moments where I was like meh that was cringe but not enough where it took away from the story. The KnoxNaomi and NashLina cameos had me in a chokehold, like I am always here to see the previous book couples together in later books in the series so moments like Knox calling Waylay "his girl" had me in ruins for a good minute before I could compose myself. The humor in this book I thought was also great, I was laughing at the dinner at KnoxNaomi's as well as the bar scene where the three men fight each other. It all was just done very well in terms of coming together to show their story in my opinion.
The page length was HIGHLY intimidating for me but honestly I cannot think of a single scene that I think I would trim, like the 650 pages felt never ending when I was thinking about how much I had left but actually reading the book I never wanted it to stop lol
I am already sad to be out of the Knockemount universe I will be rereading them asap honestly. The bonus epilogue being 10 years in the future really was perfection, just overall had a great time reading this book/series.
