Reading the ebook version off of Amazon, but could not be bothered to look up editions. Now that I've read it, I can tell you the ebook version is full of errors. I'm no editor, but I'm pretty sure back then words were never spelt with @ symbols. Terrible. Then again, it was free.
As to the story, it most certainly is a work of the time. The style makes both Dickens and Austin look sparse.
And no I'm not giving it stars. The story lives on far longer than most books, that says enough.
