Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
4.0
DAISY JONES & THE SIX is about a band that comes together during the period of rock ‘n’ roll in the 70s (although I am pretty positive that rock 'n' roll was at its peak in the 40s and 50s...) and how they inevitably fall apart. The book is written in an interview-like format, which allows DAISY JONES to flow extremely well. As a standalone, this book is truly amazing. To be honest, it took me reading about halfway through the book to really connect with any of the characters. I went back and skimmed the first half of the book after I finished it, and I truly gained a greater appreciation for the characters when I read it for a second time. I really fell in love with Daisy, and I felt like I was right there with her through all of her internal conflicts and the baggage she accumulated. This book would be a five-star read if I hadn’t read THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO, another book by Reid. Because I have read SEVEN HUSBANDS, DAISY JONES fell slightly short of a five and is ultimately a 4.9999/5 for me. I really can’t go into detail about why this is, or else there would be some major spoilers.
