This is the second book of the Lunar Chronicles.

In this book we see the return of Cinder as she is trying to outrun the Lunar government seeking to kill her. She is grappling with her identity and coming to see who she is while having to deal with a new sidekick, Thorne. At least he has a functioning spaceship that can help her locate the woman who may have answers to the questions Cinder has about how she was able to escape Luna.

Scarlet is eighteen and trying to hold the family business together. After her grandmother goes missing and her father remains MIA, Scarlet isn't sure what to do. Her grandmother after all has been deemed crazy by the whole city. When Scarlet meets Wolf, a rough and mysterious street fighter, Scarlet realizes that her grandmother is in mortal danger. Exposed to lies and hurt, Scarlet has to decide how she can help her grandmother and Wolf. Because it seems that there is more to Wolf than Scarlet ever realized.

I was really hesitant in continuing this series knowing that each sequential book focuses on a new story line, but I was not disappointed. We see the return of Cinder and Iko who continue to have progressing story lines. We meet new characters who we can't help but like, and we move deeper into the plot of how will Cinder help Emperor Kai refuse the Lunar Queen before she kills everyone who stands in her way.
