Educated by Tara Westover

4.0

The difficulty of reading a book that has been hyped to you for several years is that you come into the experience with preconceived notions. What I’ve heard about “Educated” is that it looks into the divide created by education; what I didn’t realize was how raw the read would be. I often found myself pausing for several days because the events Westover describes are horrifying, rage-producing and the repeated trauma that was recounted. I often wished there was more to her recognition of the schism created by education and her family dynamics. But while I was not as enthralled by the book as I had hoped to be, I do believe it’s an interesting read and worth the hype.
