Ms. Marvel, Vol. 7: Damage Per Second by G. Willow Wilson
3.0
This is honestly a low point for the series. The first issue is so heavy handed that it’s distracting. The main plot had a decent message but it was bogged down by another villain that I did not find intimidating. This may be in part to how loosely conceived the idea of a sentient virus was portrayed here. There was a standout moment when Zoe confesses her feelings to Nakia and Nakia does not reciprocate those feelings but is still supportive. I think this is one of those genuine teen moments from earlier in the series’ history that rings true and carries with it a message that is worthwhile. It certainly did a better job of portraying the theme of acceptance than the A-plot of making the internet “nice” for a day. Still want to read this series, but this was not its strongest moment.
