The Soulbound series has been building up to its thrilling conclusion for a while now, and A Veiled & Hallowed Eve did not disappoint.

Hailey Turner is the Queen of Building-and-Keeping-Up-Tension, and she does so exceptionally well once more in this book. The action starts pretty early on, and from then on barely ever fades away. Several of the smaller "high points" within the story arc rival the climax of other books.

One of the biggest appeals of the series is the mixture of deities, legends and myths it includes. While this is great in concept, and I have enjoyed the execution throughout the series, I would be lying if I said I didn't struggle a bit with remember who was who, and which deity belonged to which pantheon, or what their domain and powers were, and which side they were on. The cast of deities alone is big, but made even more massive through the countless characters from various law enforcement and military institutions, both existing and magical ones.

And while in all the previous books the different groups of people the reader is introduced to was kept somewhat separate, this conclusion of course brought them all together. It often took a bit of memory jogging and looking at the glossary to remind myself of who all these people were.
Still, I'm glad for it, since this meant I got to see all of my favourite characters again!

Even so, the book was great to read. The writing was engaging, and even when there are a lot of character involved in a scene, you never lose sight of who's there or what's going on. It's honestly impressive!

Overall, this was fun to read, and I liked seeing all the overarching plot points come to a close. Similarly, it was so satisfying to see these characters' stories wrap up so neatly, though I would have enjoyed more details about the side characters.
