Storm in a Teacup: The Physics of Everyday Life by Helen Czerski

5.0

'Last night, I did a bit of ballistic cooking and made popcorn.'

Pizza dough spinning, pearls forming, Sputnick falling, and skyscrapers swaying. I like how the author  flows from one thing to another, like a meandering river. This book reads like a very interesting and informative memoir. Some of her writing is so beautiful that it feels like poetry. And she's funny too! (She's not bitter at all about not winning the boot flinging contest with her homemade trebuchet.🤣😂) The whole thing is entertaining, and I highly recommend it if you are interested in how things work.

'Physics is awesome precisely because the same patterns are universal: They exist both in the kitchen and in the farthest reaches of the universe.'
