A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

medium-paced

4.0

As the final installment in the Shades of Magic trilogy, A Conjuring of Light delivers a thrilling, action-packed conclusion to the series. I was incredibly excited to dive into this book, and while I definitely enjoyed it and would recommend it, I didn’t love it quite as much as the first two.

The stakes are sky-high, the pace is relentless, and the worldbuilding remains as rich and immersive as ever. I also appreciated how the story wrapped up in the end, providing a satisfying conclusion for the characters and the world I’ve come to love. However, I did find the book a bit overwhelming at times—almost too action-packed. Lila’s character, in particular, felt a bit one-dimensional compared to the depth I was hoping for.

That said, this series as a whole has been an incredible journey. With each book, I fell more in love with the characters, their relationships, and Schwab’s masterful writing. While this final installment felt long and occasionally like a bit of a slog, it was still worth the read. If you’ve come this far in the series, you’ll want to see how it all ends!
