This one might be my favourite. Actually, scratch that: all of the books in this series are my favourite, but I loved this one something fierce.
The mystery was utterly compelling and it left guessing at every turn, and, as usual, I was completely unable to guess at who the villain was. J.L. Merrow not only is a very talanted and witty storyteller, but a fantastic plotter aswell: all of the murder mysteries in this series have been equally addicting and original and bonkers. Add in the quaint English village background, the hilariously quirky side characters, and two MCs that you can't help but fall for: this series is truly wonderful.

"Blow Down" had a slightly more serious tone to it, so I think that's why I actually loved it more: it has less relationship drama and (thankfully) less Phil acting like a dick (I actually really, really loved him this time around!), and more serious and thoughtful conversiations about the past and what both of our MCs can expect from their future. It also had quite a bit more hurt/comfort (MORE PLEASE) and let me tell you, I will never tire of Phil's swoonworthy protective side and his particular brand of gruff jealousy. I loved him quite a lot. Tom was, obviously, my favourite: snarky and nice and funny, but he also showed a much more vulnerable side this time around (even if it's more to the reader and less to Phil, alas) and he actually managed to break my heart once or twice or twenty times. I know this series is still in progress, so I'm not sure when we'll be finally getting around to Phil and Tom being honest and open (or at least, more honest and open) with each other about their respective pasts (Tom's bullying for one and his more insecure side, but also the Mysterious Mark and Phil's family history), but I'm so looking forward to it.
Gary and Cherry, as usual, deserve boatloads of awards for being the literal BEST (I LOVE THEM, OKAY).
I'm excited to be reading the next.
