Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose
5.0
I figured the mystery out pretty early, but that honestly didn’t detract from the great work in this book at all. This is my first Jeneva Rose book, and I thought it was solid! The setting and use of the VHS tapes were so evocative of a time I remember in my own life that the town in this book (which is a real place, where the author grew up) could have been my hometown. The people also felt authentic and real, and there was a lot of heart on these pages, given the conventions for a horror/mystery novel. The story logic was spot on, the characters were layered and so frustrating at times, but ultimately believable and authentic. This is an author I’d love to read again!
