I read this as a child and then again I read this with my daughter. It is a well written, coming of age love story that focuses more on the female main character finding herself, finding her strength, than the actual romance aspect. But by the end when she does find love, she is fully ready to be in a relationship. Ella is a strong role model for young girls.
