Just finish reading this book in less than 8 hours.
First of all, the whole story is very well writen and stunning. Hope I will get my hands on the korean version. I truly appreciate the statistics references ( made me give a quick google search and learn more).
Second, as a woman in a society ruled by man, i felt many times the misogyny and sexism. At school and at work. I could easily find myself in the book. Later I tried to associate the 'motherhood' with my mother's experience and with the expectation everyone has from me.
It doesn't pass a day where I don't hear: when will you get a boyfriend, when will you get married, how many kids you want. And when i tell people I don't want neither of them; " you will change your mind"
I never said i won't. But having a relationship and a child it is not even top 100 things i want to do till i die.
As a person who lived in korea and adores korean culture, for sure you can see how males have special treatment. The most accessible way to find out is by watching at their entertainment artists: from singers, to actors, to news anchor.
Awomen anchors were not allowed to wear glasses durning the news, up untill recently. Anchors of color were not allowed with their natueal hair and so on.
Males singera are allowed to show abs and have can do sexy dance moves in front of the camera, but women will have huge scandals and they are forced to change the choreography and so many other .
Still this book hasn't disappointed me. It was amazing.
