Writers & Lovers by Lily King
4.0
Slightly over 4 stars for me. I read over half of this in one sitting because it was so entertaining. Some other reviewers found the story hard to get into which I can understand but I didn't find it that way at all. Loved the premise, where the story was set, most of the characters, and the topics on poverty, writing, infatuation, lust, loss & grief. I found the romance mild which I very much appreciated. This story followed Casey's life of a struggling writer learning to cope with the recent passing of her mother and the handling of her non-existent relationship with her perverted father which made me very drawn to her hardships. On the other hand, I did find it odd how some things were thrown into the story without meaning or resolve.
‘I don't write because I think I have something to say. I write because if I don't, everything feels even worse.’
This novel definitely makes me want to read more of Lily King.
