"Guess we make a pretty good team after all"
Where have I been and why haven't I read this sooner??
I'm sorry but I need to scream about this book and how much I loved this story OMG.
We follow Rowan and Neil, two arch nemesis who team up in order to win the Howl - a tradition for graduates at their school. Usually, I am wary of enemies-to-lovers or insta-loves. But during the course of this story, you realize how deep the connection runs between them and that this day was a breaking point in their 4-year long relationship.
We have important conversations such as everything that women tend to like is looked down upon, and humored. Like romance books, especially the paperbacks with "naked people" on the cover.
We have Jewish representation and we get to learn through these characters how hurtful stereotypes can be, how "little" things aren't as little and the world, no matter how much people are trying, is still not as accepting as it should be. As a white crusty bitch who doesn't really know if I believe in anything, I love learning about other religions, and other cultures. It's amazing how humans can be so similar and so different and I think if you treat people with respect, they'll treat you the same way. You don't have to be of the same religion or culture or anything to be a decent human being and simply respect the views of other people.
ALSO!!!! We get a story in which the boy is a virgin and the girl is experienced. This is a rarity, usually, in books, it's the guy who has had sex and the girl is this little naive sheep who needs help. When in reality, this is just about love and making each other feel as comfortable as possible.
This was such a refreshing YA romance and I am definitely going to be reading more of Rachel Lynn Solomon's works.
5/5, it's a new fave y'all!
