Santana did it again. Crossed Over made me laugh, but fuck did it rip my heart right from my chest. I feel like I walked away with a few extra family members, a little healing and a lot of heartbreak. Antônia and Harvey are officially a part of me and I can’t thank Santana enough for giving me a little family that somehow felt like different pieces of myself. There’s so many layers to this book and for the length I still felt like I lived many lives through those pages. I related to Nia’s gay awakening, her mommy issues, her ethnic identity struggles while also dealing with neurodivergence. As for Harvey, I related to her need to put others above herself while also learning to set boundaries and put her feelings first. These two are my babies and I will forever cherish them and Crossed Over. This is in fact not a romance, with romance and it was done so well and is also a great representation for sapphics and our struggles as those still trying to figure it out while others have always been sure of themselves. I think all LGBQT+ members will enjoy this book and see a little of themselves in it. Thank you Santana.
(Also, the title? GENIUS)
