When Ephram sets out on a journey to Ruby's house with an Angel lay cake, much against the wishes of his God fearing sister, he is watched over by djinns from treetops, while a crow leads him onward towards the house of the woman he loves, now branded a mad whore.
Cynthia Bond has penned this based on real events. The story is heart breaking and the prose lyrical. This is one of my best reads of 2016. I highly recommend the read to all. There are scenes of child abuse, sexual and mental harrassment, so it would suit a mature audience more. Read more about the book on the blog
