The Quiet Game by Greg Iles
5.0
Wow! It took awhile, not because it wasn't a compelling story. It definitely was that. Well paced, edge of your seat twists and turns await the reader. And this book was made even more special by the fact that I met the author while I was reading it.
A part of me wants to go on the the second in the series. Another part of me wants to start the trilogy he spoke of when he talked to our group.
What I know is that I recommend it to everyone I know who hasn't read it. This is way better to me than a John Grisham legal thriller. So much deeper.
He describes Natchez easily because he's lived there. He portrays the horrible reality of the civil rights movement and shows the emotions that weave in and out of the hearts and minds of those involved.
While it is a thriller, it also moved me to tears. A 90ish year old lady I met at our event told me that it's gritty, but that she's his number one fan. She's seen a lot in her 90 years on earth. Could she have witnessed these kinds of crimes? I didn't ask.
Greg Iles is a master storyteller and I can't wait to read more.
