Brutes by Dizz Tate

If I were to describe this book in one word it would be vapid.
I was really looking forward to this book. I was really intrigued by the synopsis and it’s sapphic! Unfortunately, it was just really poorly executed.
The prose was clunky and the way it jumped around made the plot hard to follow. I still couldn’t tell you the specifics of what happened in this book and I’ve seen other reviews saying the same. There were a lot of stupid similes that made me cringe. There also were several lines that you could tell were meant to be “deep” but they were poorly placed and kinda disrupted the flow of the novel, so they just came off as corny.
Ultimately this book was just boring. It didn’t feel right to give it one star cause I’ve only given one stars to books that were genuinely painful to read, and this wasn’t. It just felt like a waste of time. At the same time, though, while the book wasn’t intolerable, I don’t really have anything good to say about it, so I decided to go with 1.5 stars.
