Band Sinister by KJ Charles
5.0
I came to Band Sinister expecting a light read, perhaps with some amusing historical euphemisms and a fun, salacious romance. What I wasn't expecting to find was an incredibly well-written narrative with incredible characters that I cared deeply about. I have often stayed away from romance because one of the things I haven't liked about it is the focus on the romance itself - I usually prefer a romance to happen within the confines of a larger plot. However, this book didn't feel like that was its only purpose. It's as much a story about friendship and family and courage as it is about the (wonderful) romance, and it was so perfectly balanced. I snorted with laughter and squealed with glee. I'm now extremely excited to read more of KJ Charles' books.
