Grif is a mercenary who has given up on life and is determined to go into the winter mountains hoping to end it all... Kiernan is on an important mission to deliver a message however he finds Grif on the verge of death and is derailed from his mission in hopes to save Grief’s life. However, Grif never asked to be saved.

I liked this story, but it just doesn’t go anywhere, and it needed more world-building. For most of the story, I didn't care enough for Grif, and it wasn't that he was a brute, his character just felt washed out by the end I warmed up to him but not enough to feel invested. This is a historical/fantasy slow survival story.
