I liked it the first time I read this in high school, but somehow, it just doesn't hit the same on my second read. Somehow lots of things happen and nothing happens at the same time. The romance feels insta-lovey to me. And the author overturns a part of the established worldbuilding in a way that doesn't really make sense close to the end.
Are you saying that somehow, it has never been discovered that boys could be witches all along? Considering this, I can't help but feel that Reid having gender shenanigans would have somehow made the lore make more sense.
Hopefully things make more sense in the next book. We'll see how far I get through this series.

I can't believe I wrote all of this without mentioning Ansel. Ansel is the best part of the book. Ansel, I love you, you're adorable. I wish this book had been about you instead.
