Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

What do you do when a beloved classic doesn't resonate with you?

I'm not going to rip apart this darling. It obviously hit me at the wrong time in my life. I'm glad I read it and glad I have now read all three sisters. I will briefly mention why this book didn't excite me.

Do people still bother to discuss the incest? Because that was thick and I already knew that when your children's children have children with each other, nobody lives very long. As for the plot, it didn't seem to advance past a bunch of miserable folks imprisoning each other before dying. Did I miss it, or was Hareton the only one who underwent a transformation of character? As for the narrator situation, my only question is why?

But my biggest issue by far is Emily told me the end of the story at the very beginning and then proceeded to follow my every expectation on how she arrived at the end she gave me at the beginning.

What a mortifying review to post.
