I hate to give low stars to as famous a manga as this - I love the look and the art of it. I have never seen the manga, and still want to - I didn't grow up watching it like many fans. As a manga, it doesn't grip me. I think it's because though likely groundbreaking at the time, it's been redone so often that it seems trite now - even though it was one of the first of its kind to gain wide readership. Plenty of other manga from this era hold up for me, and this storyline just doesn't grip me. But I do love the art, and all the cosplay and fandom that's evolved from it.
