This is my third time reading a Ribay book and I can say that this is another must-read! In EWNH, we follow the story of four generations of Maghabol boys and how they battle their own issues concerning identity, rights, familial relationship, and a global pandemic.

Set in alternating timelines from 1930 to 1965 to 1983 and to 2020, EWNH bares the reality about being part of a lineage of Filipino Americans who are toughened by history and experience.

One thing that I really liked about this one is the contrasting father-son relationships between the Maghabol boys and how each one were tested by their own personal belief and current events that resulted to various conflicts. These lead to four different stories highlighting Fil-Am characters that has their own set of values, flaws, and insights.

This is a great book that is highly-recommended if you want to know more about the deep history of the Philippines and America and how Filipinos are an integral part of the US workforce since then.

Poignant and utterly pragmatic, EWNH is another highly-recommended #AkdangPinoy book!
