Lipstick & Zombies by Faith McKay

I bought this book in a sale and to be honest I didn't have incredibly high expectations for it based on the cover and the blurb - I figured it would be flashy action, silly quips and explosions with a few zombies and some cute girls. Not to say that it doesn't have those things, but the book doesn't shy away from the fact that these girls were hired specifically to convince kids to join the military (there's some incredibly sharp and cynical writing around this topic) or the horrors of what actual killing zombie situations would be like. Every member of the band gets some chapters in her POV, and there's a strong theme of the way you perceive others vs what is really going on in their heads which is nice to see in a book for teenage girls.
