Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian

5.0

I found it hard to review a really beautiful book for some reasons. I know that I should've explained why I found this book beautiful, but like, it's just hard. Everything about Like a Love Story is perfect.

"Writing this book was a way for me to reconnect with the scared teenager who still lives somewhere inside me, and to thank the friends, family, artists, and activists who helped me on my journey from shame to acceptance."
-- From the author's note.

Like a Love Story is more than a love story between lovers and friendship. It's about fighting for your life and the life of people around you. This feels like a letter written by Nazemian to the world. It feels like, he gave everything he had for this book to be heard not just by LGBT members, but people all around the world too. I can feel the presence of his voices in his characters; Jude, Art and Reza. Especially Reza.

Every characters feel real and raw. I feel like I'm sitting with them while they pour everything they've been through. I love it. I really love it.
