No Place Like Home by Barbara O'Neal
5.0
Jewel Sabatino left the Italian community she was raised in and never looked back. Disowned by her father, she followed her heart and had a good life. It was not without some heartbreak, though, and eventually, she inherits her aunt’s house at just the right time. Her best friend Michael is dying and she needs a place for his final days. She returns to Colorado and her family, who (with the exception of her father) welcome her with open arms.
Her son is ready to take on the world, but Jewel isn’t ready to let him go. Michael’s brother Malachi arrives to spend his last days together. Jewel is drawn to Malachi in ways she never imagined. As time passes, they become friends and lovers. But Malachi is a rolling stone and she knows he won’t stick around after Michael passes.
Through the heartbreak of loss, new love is found. Old hurts are forgiven and in the end Jewel… well, I’m not going to reveal the end. But make sure you have a hankie handy because the ending is a tearjerker! I LOVED this book, and I know you will, too. This author uses words like a palate and paints a world you can almost taste and feel. She will tug your heartstrings. Do yourself a favor and read every book she writes.
