The Plot is Murder is the first book in the Mystery Bookshop series by V.M Burns, a series of cozy mystery books. This was my first experience with a cozy mystery story and though I like the concept of the main character owning a bookstore and solving a murder, the execution was not my favorite and the story was very boring.
The main character is a widow and an aspiring bookstore owner, the story starts off with her moving into her new house/bookstore. The main character is a fan of cozy mysteries and she's also writing her own cozy mystery so throughout the book we're reading two stories. The current murder situation happening with the main character and the murder mystery she's writing. The murder mystery that the main character was writing was down right boring, I don't know if historical fiction is just not my cup of tea but I wanted to DNF this so badly because it was so boring. The main murder mystery was also boring and there was nothing keeping me interested in finding out who the murderer was.
I didn't enjoy this read. I'm only happy that it wasn't as long as it could have been. I will not be continuing the series.
