Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray

I'm still obsessed with The Diviners series! This is a paranormal fantasy series about a group of young people in 1920s New York. They prefer to spend their time partying and walking around New York City like celebrities, but sometimes they have to be responsible and use their Diviner powers to destroy evil ghosts.
This series is fun. I like the blend of real history and paranormal fantasy. These books are huge, but I can happily read them for hours, so they don't feel as big as they look. I fly through the pages. The characters are loveable, and the plot twists make the books hard to put down. I always want to know what will happen next.
I'm not sure what to say about book #3 without spoiling the first two. I love how much the characters are growing and maturing over the course of the series. The ending of book #3 is shocking. I knew people were going to die, but . . . dang. As soon as I finished it, I got book #4 from the library because I'm desperate to know how the series ends.
It's hard to criticize these books because they're just entertaining. I'm probably not supposed to overthink them. That being said, I'm going to overthink and criticize them. There are too many characters with too many plotlines. The different plots make the characters realistic, but I want to read about my favorites, and I get impatient with the others. Also, I don't find the villains scary. The ghost stuff is a bit silly, actually.
None of those criticisms will stop me from finishing the series. I'm looking forward to the ending.
