Roman Religion by J. A. North
3.0
A good introduction for someone like me who knew from very little to nothing. I liked that it is showing us the patterns of thinking of scholarship and how that changes when the information available changes. However, the way some of that information was presented got confusing for me. Someone who has more experience with this type of reading material in Classical Studies would find this book easy. Reading it got easier as the semester progressed, but in the beginning it felt confusing trying to understand the progress of the scholarship and the changes. I'll need to reread parts of it or refer to it if needed. It's a very tiny book, so it doesn't feel intimitating when you pick it up. It was for a class, and I feel that it challenged my reading and thinking to start moving to a different direction than what I normally knew. It was a good start.
